Planting & Care

1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and place the plant so the top of the root ball is level with the soil surface. In heavier, clay soils, plant about 1 inch above the soil line. Backfill with a mixture of native soil and compost, then water thoroughly after planting.

2. Watering: Water the plant regularly during the first few weeks to help establish roots. Once established, it is drought-tolerant but will thrive best with occasional watering during dry periods.

3. Pruning: Coreopsis should be regularly deadheaded throughout the growing season to encourage continued blooming and improve air circulation. Leaving basal foliage in place at the end of the season may help the plant overwinter. In early spring, prune back any overwintered foliage to the ground to promote new growth. Divide clumps in early spring as needed.

4. Fertilizing: Use a balanced fertilizer in early spring to encourage healthy growth. Avoid over-fertilizing, as it may reduce blooming.
