Beyond its beauty, this hydrangea offers practical benefits. It attracts pollinators like butterflies and bees, contributing to a lively ecosystem in your yard. With its manageable size and adaptable nature, the Show Stopper™ Hydrangea fits beautifully into any garden design, whether you have a sprawling landscape or a cozy patio. Planting this hydrangea is an investment in both aesthetics and biodiversity, allowing you to enjoy vibrant blooms while supporting our precious pollinators.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. When planting your Show Stopper Hydrangea, choose a location with partial sun for optimal growth—about 4 to 6 hours of sunlight daily is ideal. Dig a hole that is twice as wide as the root ball and about the same depth. Place the plant in the hole, ensuring the top of the root ball is level with the ground surface, and backfill the hole with soil. Add a 2–3" layer of mulch 3 feet around plant to conserve water, insulate roots, and suppress weeds.

2. Watering: Hydrangeas prefer consistent moisture, so water regularly, especially during dry spells.  During establishment, water deeply 2-3 times a week. Adjust based on rainfall and temperature.

3. Pruning: Show Stopper blooms on old and new wood, which means buds for the next season are made at the end of the current season, along with new buds that create a second bloom for the current season. Pruning should be limited to removing dead or diseased growth. Prune in spring, when new green growth starts to emerge.

4. Fertilizing: Use a slow-release fertilizer like Espoma Garden Food 5-10-5  in early spring to provide nutrients. Espoma Soil Acidifier can be used to lower the pH and turn the blooms blue; Espoma Garden Lime can be used to raise the pH and turn the blooms pink.
