The Story

A stunning rose with vibrant color and disease resistance

The Lady of Shalottâ„¢ Rose is a breathtaking addition to any garden, showcasing clusters of bold, warm apricot-colored flowers that bloom profusely throughout the season. This English shrub rose, bred by David Austin, stands out not just for its beauty but also for its remarkable hardiness and disease resistance. Its fragrant blooms and robust foliage create a serene and inviting atmosphere, making it an excellent choice for a cottage garden, border, or even as a statement plant in a larger landscape.

Alongside its visual appeal, the Lady of Shalott™ Rose is known for its bushy growth habit, providing good coverage and structure to your garden layout. The subtle fragrance of its flowers enhances any outdoor space, attracting pollinators like bees and butterflies while ensuring your garden remains lively and inviting. Choosing this rose is not only about adding aesthetic charm; it’s about cultivating an environment that thrives and evolves with you.

About David Austin®: David Austin Roses is a family-run breeder with over 60 years of expertise, known for creating exceptional English roses that combine beauty, fragrance, and strong garden performance. Each rose is carefully hand-bred and grown using traditional methods, resulting in distinctive varieties prized for their charm, health, and elegance.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Choose a sunny location with well-drained soil for your Lady of Shalott™ Rose. Dig a hole that is twice the width of the plant’s root ball but no deeper than the root ball itself. Place the rose in the hole, making sure that the graft union (swelling on the stem where it was grafted) is just above the soil line. Backfill with soil, packing it lightly to remove air pockets, and water thoroughly.

2. Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during its first year of growth. Water deeply but less frequently; about once a week or more during hot, dry spells. Mulching around the base can help retain soil moisture and reduce weeds.

3. Pruning: To encourage healthy growth, prune your Lady of Shalottâ„¢ Rose in late winter or early spring as new growth begins. Remove dead or crossing branches, and cut back about one-third of the plant's height to promote vigorous blooming. Always use clean, sharp tools to make precise cuts.

4. Fertilizing: Feed your rose in early spring with a balanced rose fertilizer. A second application can be made in mid-summer to support continued growth and flowering. Avoid fertilizing late in the season to prevent new growth that could be damaged by frost.
