The Story

Abundant flowers in a compact habit

Junior Walker™ Nepeta is an improved selection prized for its abundant flowers in a compact, well-behaved habit. More floriferous than many other Nepeta cultivars, it produces a profusion of lavender-blue blooms that create a uniform flower canopy above soft gray-green foliage. The dense, even coverage delivers stronger color impact from late spring through early fall, while strong, upright stems resist flopping—maintaining a tidy appearance all season long. Unlike older varieties that sprawl or fall open, Junior Walker™ keeps its neat shape and does not reseed, preventing unwanted spreading.

Compact and easy to grow, this resilient perennial thrives in sunny locations with well-drained soil. Its long bloom window and pollinator-friendly flowers attract bees and butterflies, adding movement and life to borders, cottage gardens, and smaller spaces. With greater flower power, improved structure, and reliable performance, Junior Walker™ offers a superior, low-maintenance option for season-long garden color.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Choose a sunny spot with well-draining soil. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and place the plant at the same depth it was in the pot. Water thoroughly after planting to help establish roots.

2. Watering: Water regularly, especially during dry spells, but avoid overwatering. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out before watering again to keep the roots healthy and prevent rot.

3. Pruning: Prune back the plant after flowering to encourage new growth and a tidier shape. In the spring, trim dead foliage to promote fresh and vibrant blooms.

4. Fertilizing: Fertilize sparingly in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer. Over-fertilizing can lead to excessive leaf growth at the expense of flowers.
