The Story

Deep, Velvety Red Color on a Climbing Form

Why Don Juan Roses?

Deep velvety red color meets sweet fragrance, making the Don Juan Rose as romantic as it sounds. Plus, because it's a climbing rose, you can plant it anywhere - from trellises in your garden to containers on your porch. And despite the fact that it's a climbing rose, it's perfect for cutting and creating show-stopping indoor arrangements.

Train it as a tree, grow it as a shrub, or keep it as a climbing vine. There's nothing you can't do with the Don Juan. Even better? It delivers versatility, vibrant true red color and multi-layered blooms year after year, completely hassle-free...the way that other rose varieties can't.

You get bold crimson color and huge blooms for weeks at a time on new and old wood, even down to -10 degrees. And since Don Juan grows in full sun to partial shade, unlike similar roses, it doesn't matter where you plant it. It keeps on thriving despite neglect, missed waterings, cloudy skies or tough conditions.

From drought-prone desert towns and humid, hot temperatures to snowy northern cities, Don Juan grows strong and delivers tons of eye-catching blooms with amazing fragrance. In fact, when neighbors see your Don Juan Rose, they'll stop and stare to admire your 'professional' rose garden.

And you won't have to spend hours pruning or fussing over your Don Juan Rose to get its perfectly-cultivated look.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Find a spot with well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade (3 to 6 hours of sunlight per day).

Plant your rose in a hole twice as wide but just as deep as the root ball. Water immediately to establish roots. Add a 3-inch layer of mulch to prevent weeds.

If you're planting in a container, select a pot that's about twice the size of your plant's shipped container and use organic soil. Place your rose, water to settle its roots, and find a sunny spot on your porch or patio to place your container.

2. Watering: Water weekly, or check the surrounding soil. When the soil is dry about 3 inches down, it's time to water your rose.

If your rose is container-planted, water until you see it flowing from the drainage holes at the bottom.

3. Fertilizing: Feed with a liquid rose fertilizer, once in the spring and once in the summer. Follow the instructions on the package.

4. Pruning: Other than shaping, no pruning is required.
